OVERVIEW:
Kodaikanal is "The Gift of the Forest".[3] Kodaikanal is referred to as the "Princess of Hill stations" and has a long history as a retreat and popular tourist destination.
A beautiful village on the outskirts of Kodaikanal, Kookal is a small village with a beautiful lake, enveloped by mountains on three sides and a valley on the other.
The starting point of the trek is from Kukkal village. Which provides a bird’s eye view of the scenic landscapes of the surrounding mountains. Kukkal offers a panoramic view of the majestic Western Ghats.
It is a paradise for trekking lovers as well as nature enthusiasts as it offers different trekking routes for the professional trekker to the novice trekker as well. The Total distance of the trek is about 15 Kms and considered to be a moderate trek.
Hike down from Kukkal village to campsite through waterfalls and streams, a journey to be cherished. The trekking route here is covered with the dense woods and plain grasslands of Kodaikanal Hills with lots of wild animals to sight.
Frequently changing weather, low-hanging clouds, chilly atmosphere and strong winds coupled with wide range of flora and fauna are the things to enjoy in the hills.
Please note: Travelling from Bangalore would be little more costly as the state permit would be required to enter Tamil Nadu from Karnataka.
